A report from Korea has indicated that Samsung‘s 64 bit chipset could be in the final stages of its development. The report further claims that a few Samsung tablets in the future will pack this chipset with eight CPU cores capable of running at decent clock speeds. Hopefully, this chipset will be able to handle all eight cores simultaneously like the recently announced high power Exynos chipset. The new 64-bit chip will run on four ARM Cortex-A57 CPU cores and four Cortex-A53 cores for high performance as well as efficiency.
Right after Apple announced the 64-bit A7 chip during the iPhone 5s introduction, Samsung made its intentions very clear about plans to bring 64 bit chipsets to its future devices. Of course proper software and hardware support needs to be enabled for Samsung to make full use of 64 bit chipsets, and it seems like Samsung will be instrumental in being the first to bring it to Android. With no flagship smartphones in sight, we can assume that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will carry this next gen chipset.
