The NVIDIA Tegra Tab has been spotted again, but this time on a certification site. The Tegra Tab P1640 has landed on NCC’s (National Communications Commission) site, which is the Taiwanese equivalent of the FCC, thus confirming its existence. The listing reveals some of its specs and a couple of images as well.
From what we know so far, the Tegra Tab is a 7 inch tablet running NVIDIA’s latest silicon with a high resolution display and stylus support. This new revelation confirms most of that as well as the 1280×768 resolution display, a 5MP camera, a front camera, a 1.8 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip, a SIM card tray for 4G LTE or 3G, a micro HDMI port and Android 4.2.2. Techkiddy claims that the tablet will be announced during the IFA event later this week, so we won’t have to wait long.
The Tegra Tab is certainly targeted towards the ASUS made Nexus 7 and its contemporaries. Whether NVIDIA will succeed in convincing the buyers is a whole different story. But looking at the specs, I don’t think it will provide any competition to the Nexus 7.
