It is standard procedure to conduct drop tests whenever a new smartphone is launched. So on the eve of the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c launch, the folks at SquareTrade decided to do a quick little durability test to determine which would sustain accidents the most. Although most users will go years without dunking their smartphone into water or dropping it from a substantial height, this test gives us a brief idea of how well these smartphones are built.
Touted against the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s were the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Moto X. Starting with the drop test, the Moto X was the clear winner by a long shot with the iPhone 5s coming in at second and the iPhone 5c at third despite almost shattering the display. The Galaxy S4 though refused to turn on after the test as the display appeared to have been opened due to the impact of the drop. The second was the slide test where it was revealed that the iPhone 5s will slide off quickly off the surface compared to the other three. The third and final test was the water dunk test, which didn’t seem to affect the Moto X or the two iPhones all that much, but only the Galaxy S4 as it stopped working midway.
After the test, it is quite clear that the Moto X is easily the most durable smartphone out there.
