The HTC Butterfly S Hello Kitty Edition has just been unveiled in Taiwan, giving fans of the famous feline a special treat. Only 3,100 units of this device are available of the limited-edition handset, according to an earlier report.
The HTC Butterfly S Hello Kitty Edition features a pearly white polycarbonate shell with an image of Hello Kitty. It also comes with a Hello Kitty wallpaper. PhoneArena earlier surmised that it would feature some Hello Kitty games, but HTC’s page for the new handset does not indicate any.
Apart from the Hello Kitty customizations, the smartphone shares the features of the HTC Butterfly S. It measures 144.5 x 70.5 x 10.6 mm and weighs 160 grams. It has a 5-inch 1080p display with 440 ppi. Internally, it has a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, a micro SIM card slot, 16GB of storage space, a microSD card slot for expansion, 2 GB of RAM, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It also supports HSPA, WCDMA, GSM, GPRS, and EDGE, as well as Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 a / ac / b / g / n. Sensors include Gyro, Digital Compass, Approaching Sensors, Ambient light sensors, and Acceleration Sensors. The smartphone will likewise feature an HTC UltraPixel camera with a dedicated HTC ImageChip 2, F2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens along with a 2.1 MP camera that is able to record 1080p Full HD videos. Various photography features are available, including Continuous Shooting, HTC Zoe Reality album, Slow Motion Video, and HTC Share with Video Highlights. Its battery has a large capacity of 3200 mAh, promising 25 hours of talk time, and 659 hours of standby time. Other notable features are HTC BlinkFeed Home and HTC BoomSound Audio.
The HTC Butterfly S Hello Kitty Edition is expected to be made available globally soon, but for now, it appears to be available exclusively in Asia. It would be recalled that last year, Samsung also released a Hello Kitty edition of its Samsung Galaxy Y handset. Earlier in 2012, Alcatel also began selling an Android handset with a Hello Kitty theme.
