IFA is upon us and HTC has come out the door guns blazing with a few new product launches. The Berlin conference is like the European CES, with all sorts of wacky electronics and mid-range devices getting launched. This year, we are going to see more than mid range devices, with a full new line of smartphones rumoured to be coming from multiple companies.
Starting with the two new Desire smartphones, the Desire 301 is a good looking budget-end smartphone. Inside the device is a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, 4.3-inch 480p display, 5MP rear camera, 1650mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.
The Desire 601 will have more pleasing but still mid-range specs, with a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 4.5-inch 540p display, 5MP rear camera, 2100mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth and LTE. Both smartphones are set to launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, no word on US launch.
HTC is also stepping into the speaker market with the HTC BoomBass, a new portable subwoofer. The BoomBass will connect through NFC to a paired smartphone and amplifies low-end performance when connected with a HTC device. No price yet, but the accessory will be available in October.
Last but not least, the HTC One and HTC One Mini in vivid blue. Recent leaks showed a dark blue, but HTC has went with a glossy baby blue. It looks nice and we are glad to see it will come on both HTC One devices, we wonder if it will also be available on the HTC One Max, set to launch at the IFA event sometime within the next few days.
The color will be available in Q4 this year on selected markets, this could either be Sprint or Verizon Wireless in the US, depending on which carrier wants the color option the most.
