Google’s Nexus 4 reaches “end of life” status in Canada

LG Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 has been one of the most loved Android devices, with super-fast updates to the latest operating system and an incredibly cheap off-contract price, Google really found a winning strategy.

Sadly, the Nexus 4 is getting on in life and Canada’s second largest carrier Bell has decided to give it the “end of life” status. This means the phone will be dropped from the store front and Bell will not accept more stock.

It is not all sad news, this means Bell is either sick of not being able to sell the smartphone or the company is preparing the launch of the LG Nexus 5, the new Google smartphone with quick updates and a cheap off-contract price.

The latter seems more likely, considering we have heard various rumors regarding the LG Nexus 5 and the Nexus 4 has just had $100 price-reduction, down to an incredible $199 off contract on the Google Play store.

With the end of life status, is it actually worth buying the Nexus 4 still? We did a piece on this a few weeks ago – even if the phone is not the highest-end device now, it can still run all apps and Google will still be feeding the phone updates until the next Nexus phone reaches its “end of life” status.

We hope Google continues to offer this amazingly cheap high-end device with the LG Nexus 5 and we hope it is in stock for more than five minutes this time.
