HTC/Google is now rolling out an update to the Google Play Edition HTC One smartphone. The update carries the build number JWR66Y.H1(3.07.1700.1) and doesn’t change the Android version, so it’s only a minor update. Regardless, the update should go live gradually and finish rolling out by the end of the week or even longer. If you own a Google Play Edition HTC One, make sure you check the notifications panel or settings for an OTA update.
There’s no changelog available for the update yet, but it’s most probably a small bug fix which Google dropped for Nexus devices a couple of weeks ago. This update has been spotted by an XDA user, so it seems pretty legit. But the user apparently owns a regular HTC One which he later converted into a Google Play model, so we’re not sure if that’s a factor. The update should be under 5MB in size and could revoke your root privileges, so make sure you have all the essential tools ready. We can now expect the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 to get a similar update.
