AT&T’s prepaid subsidiary Aio Wireless is now offering the Samsung Galaxy S4 contract free. The prepaid carrier which began services in May this year will sell the Galaxy S4 for $579.99. In comparison, T-Mobile is selling the smartphone for $603.99 which indicates that AT&T could be starting off a price war for the flagship Samsung smartphone. The smartphone can be snatched up at Aio Wireless stores across America and through its online store – aiowireless.com.
As a refresher, the Galaxy S4 features a 5 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP main camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB of storage with a microSD card slot, a 1.9 GHz Snapdragon 600 quad core chip, Android 4.2.2 and a 2,600 mAh battery.
Aio Wireless was launched primarily to compete with carriers like T-Mobile, as the Aio Wireless homepage will tell you. Price cuts are certainly one way to achieve that goal, but with T-Mobile’s Uncarrier promotion gaining 1.1 million new subscribers, AT&T will have to do a lot more than just undercutting on prices. Since Aio Wireless is relatively new to the scene, its availability is limited to certain parts of the U.S., so there’s still some work left to be done.
