2013 has certainly turned out to be the year of smartwatches with plenty of new offerings being launched. Add one more to that list now in the form of the new A.I Watch. But unlike conventional smartwatches, this one comes with support for a SIM card. Running a customized version of Android 4.0.4, the A.I Smartwatch is looking to raise over $100,000 to reach its IndieGoGo campaign goal and it seems to have the legs to make it.
The hardware inside is a 1.54 inch 240×240 resolution display, 512MB of RAM, a 500 mAh battery, 4GB of internal storage, a 5MP camera and a 1.2 GHz dual core processor. Early backers can get the smartwatch for as little as $179, while $199 will give you the entire package (earphones, micro USB cable, SIM ejector tool etc). The prices will shoot up to $279 when the smartwatch starts retailing in stores officially. Another bonus is that the A.I Watch is capable of downloading apps directly from the Google Play Store. The smartwatch supports standard 3G and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands. If you’re wondering, the A.I Watch also comes with over 250 customizable watch faces.
With the Samsung Galaxy Gear failing to pick up traction due to its cost and incompatibility with other smartphones, this could chime in as a decent alternative, especially since it carries its own cellular radio inside. Head over to the IndieGoGo link below to pledge your support for the A.I Watch.
