When Sony released the Sony Xperia ZR it was running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Today, the company has rolled out the Android 4.2.2 update for the device which is already being pushed in Norway and is expected to arrive in other regions soon. While this isn’t the latest system since Android 4.3 is already out the company has promised that this device will be updated to Android 4.3 sometime in the future.
The Sony Xperia ZR update brings several new features to the device most notably in its user interface that is now identical to that of the Xperia Z and ZL. The Update Center app has some visual changes as well. After updating the device the firmware version should read 10.3.1.A.0.244.
Sony says that once the device gets updated there’s going to be an improvement on the 3G signal strength. The screen contrast will also be improved making dark text look better on a lighter background.
One additional feature not present in the older version of Android is the Quick Settings function on the notification panel.
The device will also now have the DayDream screensaver as well as a new accessibility option that allows the whole user interface to be magnified.

If you don’t see any updates but want to get it now you can manually flash the latest build to your device. You will need the latest firmware file to do this and some knowledge in flashing Android devices.
