The Android 4.2 update for Sony’s premier tablet has begun rolling out right on schedule as promised. The Xperia Tablet Z is one of the many Sony devices scheduled to receive the Android 4.2 update over the course of Q3 2013. The tablet originally launched back in May with Android 4.1.2. It seems like the 4G LTE version of the tablet (SGP321) is getting the update first with the Wi-Fi variant slated to get an update later.
This update will change the firmware to 10.3.1.A.0.244. There’s no access to the changelog as of now, but we can expect all the standard Android 4.2 features to be on board. That includes the multi-user support for tablets, quick settings panel, Daydream and improved Google Now support. As with any update, this is a partial rollout, so it might not be accessible to everyone immediately. However, if you own an Xperia Tablet Z, make sure you’re on the lookout for an update. Other Sony devices like the Xperia Z, ZR and the ZL are running on the same build as the updated Xperia Tablet Z.
