The Sony Xperia S and the SL seem to have a firmware update lined up for the near future according to a newly leaked screenshot, which shows an updated firmware version while leaving the Android version unchanged. This update will change the build number to 6.20B.1.96 and shouldn’t make a lot of buzz when it eventually hits these smartphones. However, it is claimed that this firmware update fixes a few bugs on the devices which have been nagging users. Most notable of these bugs is the volume up button functionality glitch as well as the 1080p video capture bug.
The source of this leak also mentions that the update should be live by the end of this month, which is good news for device owners. The Xperia S and other 2012 flagships are slated to receive the Android 4.2.2 update soon, although we’re unsure when. Sony has been relatively slow as far as updates are concerned. It was relatively slow with the Android 4.1 update for its devices as well, but that’s history now.
