Sony’s September 4 event is set to unveil the Xperia Honami smartphone, which is confirmed now. But according to new reports, Sony might not call it the Honami after all. Two sources have claimed that the smartphone will be known as the Xperia Z1 when launched in the market. This makes sense as Sony has never been one for names since it started naming its smartphones with simple alphabets. A new press render of the smartphone has also leaked along with the new name as a bonus. The image reveals the existence of a purple variant, much like the rest of Sony’s 2013 flagships.
There’s still no official confirmation on the name from Sony, so we would be well advised to wait until September 4 to have full details. The smartphone is rumored to feature a mammoth 20.7MP camera sensor with Sony G Lens and tons of software features to support the hardware. The smartphone is also rumored to feature a 5 inch 1080p display with a powerful Snapdragon 800 quad core chipset and Android 4.2.
