The Samsung Galaxy Note III SM-N9006 is reportedly a variant of the upcoming phablet that will support LTE-A connectivity. This particular model showed up on Picasa. The leak also revealed that the phablet features a camera capable of taking an image with 4128 x 2322 pixels. According to Sam Mobile, this could be equivalent to 10 megapixels. It had been earlier rumored that the Note III will have a 10-megapixel camera, giving some credence to this leak. However, what potentially gave away the LTE-A support is the model number. The Samsung Galaxy S4 had the model number GT-I9506. Meanwhile, the same smartphone’s standard LTE variant had I9505. Following such logic, the SM-N9006, which also ends in 6 like the GT-I9506, could be the LTE-A variant.
The Samsung Galaxy Note III SM-N9006 joins the list of three variants of the phablet that just yesterday appeared in another leak. Such variants include the SM-N900, SM-N9005, and the SM-N9002. These three variants differ in terms of their processors, GPUs, and connectivity options. The SM-N900 will supposedly support 3G whereas the SM-N9005 will support LTE. The SM-N9002, meanwhile, will offer dual-SIM standby support along with 3G connectivity.
The countries which would be getting the SM-N900, SM-N9005, and the SM-N9002 had been leaked yesterday. Interestingly, South Korea does not appear in the list, which could mean that another variant that was not mentioned in the leak yesterday could be heading to Samsung’s home country. Moreover, the fact that South Korea is the only country to currently offer LTE-A connectivity makes it highly likely that the Samsung Galaxy Note III SM-N9006 will be aimed at that market.
The Samsung Galaxy Note III is expected to arrive with 3 GB of RAM, a camera with Optical Image Stabilization, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot, and a 3200 mAh battery. Some components that are dependent on which market it is heading include the processor, which could be a 1.8GHz octa-core Exynos 5420 or 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, and the GPU, which is either ARM Mali-T628 MP6 or Adreno 330. The device will break cover on September 4th during IFA in Germany.
