Sony smartphones have been known to feature one of the best cameras for mobile devices. The company is planning to improve mobile cameras further not only for their models but of other manufacturers as well by coming up with a lens-camera kit. This is an external interchangeable lens that is designed to work with any Android or iOS devices which will improve its picture taking capability.
New rumors are spreading that Sony will soon be releasing two new lens camera models. These are the DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses. What sets them apart is that they are not just any ordinary lens since they will also come with their own built-in sensor, Bionz processor, Wi-Fi/NFC wireless connection and SD card slot. Users will be able to control these lenses through the smartphone or through a wireless connection (Wi-Fi, NFC).
One of the models is said to use the Sony RX100MII sensor as well as a Carl Zeiss lens. The other model will make use of a 10x zoom lens with 1/2.3 inch 18MP CMOS sensor.
The lenses attaches to any smartphone (Android or iOS) using a magnet.
There’s still no expected release date for these devices and no price range has been set. Judging by the cost of regular lenses we’re sure that these lens cameras won’t come cheap.
These upcoming lens cameras may be a game changer for mobile photography. Right now the best way to take high quality photos is by using DLSRs. The use of the lenses may even out the playing field making smartphones effectively compete against DLSRs.
