A new report has revealed the existence of the Oppo R819 smartphone. The smartphone is set for a September release apparently and will behave as a Google Edition phone, although it isn’t officially endorsed by Google. The smartphone will feature stock Android (4.2.1) which will give users the ability to flash new ROMs of their choice and keep it free from OEM clutter. Oppo will also launch the R819 running on the Oppo Color ROM in the future, but during launch, users will only have the stock Android variant available.
The smartphone also packs a 4.7 inch 720p display, an 8MP Sony made rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture, the Mediatek MT6589 quad core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and a 2,000 mAh battery. Oppo claims that this will be “one of the thinnest and lightest smartphones in the world“. Pre orders for the Oppo R819 will go live soon, and unlike most other Chinese smartphones, the handset should be available through global retail chains like Amazon.
