New Kindle Fire HD spotted in benchmarks with Snapdragon 800 chip

Kindle Fire HD

The upcoming Amazon Kindle Fire HD refresh has leaked on a few occasions, mostly in rumors. But today, GFX Bench has revealed some interesting information about the GPU of the upcoming top end Amazon tablet. Contrary to previous reports which claimed that Amazon could be using a MediaTek made chipset for its Kindle Fire HD tablet, this new leak reveals the existence of the Adreno 330 GPU hence indicating that a Snapdragon 800 chip could be on board. The display resolution is apparently 2560×1600 as previously rumored.

The tablet could either arrive during a standalone launch event from Amazon or at the IFA 2013 event next month in Berlin. Amazon will most likely launch two variants of the Kindle Fire like last year, with one low cost variant set to take on the likes of the Nexus 7 and a top tier 8.9 inch tablet, which is the one mentioned in this benchmark leak. September, it seems, is a very lucrative month for the smartphone industry with several launches slated to take place including the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Sony Xperia Honami.
