LG Nexus 5 plastic back leaked in new photos

The Nexus 5 will come with a plastic back similar to the LG G2, instead of the back-glass featured on the Nexus 4. While this is certainly not a forward step in design innovation, especially considering the HTC One and Moto X grand designs, it is a lot more durable than the glass back, with many users reporting cracks on their Nexus 4.

The backside of the LG Nexus 5 has been leaked and shows a rather unappealing removable back with large white side buttons. LG will not add their back buttons, keeping them an LG G2 exclusive. The Nexus 5 looks to have a large sensor, perhaps the 10MP camera leaked previously.

This does put a little dampness on our buzz for the LG Nexus 5, we know design should not be a crucial part of the phone, but a badly designed smartphone can ruin the user experience, just look at the Galaxy S4 against the HTC One as proof. Removable backs have been a Google thing as well, we wonder why they would allow it on their flagship Nexus device.

The LG Nexus 5 is set to be as cheap as the Nexus 4, coming at $399 off contract with 16GB and 32GB storage options. Google and LG have worked hard to make sure there is enough stock for launch and we believe the event will be held sometime in Q4 2013, unveiling Key Lime Pie and the Nexus 10.
