If you own a developer edition HTC One, and are still stuck on Android 4.1, you would be pleased to know that an update is forthcoming. Well, not to 4.2.2 but to 4.3 directly according to HTC’s Jason Mackenzie who replied to a user’s tweet with the information. Users have obviously been frustrated over the lack of an update to the developer version of HTC One while the global variant has Android 4.2.2. Even the upcoming Verizon HTC One comes with Android 4.2.2 out of the box. Apparently, HTC considers Android 4.2.2 to be too small a bump in Android version to warrant a separate update, so it’s going to directly roll out Android 4.3.
However, Mackenzie only mentioned that a 4.3 update is coming later, failing to mention the exact timeframe. So it could be anytime this month or the month after that, depending entirely on HTC’s software team. Bear in mind, the developer edition smartphone is different from the Google Play edition HTC One, which already runs Android 4.3.
