Google offering $100 refund to Nexus 4 purchases after August 12

Nexus 4

Google decided to slash the prices of the LG Nexus 4 smartphone by a whopping $100 for the 8 and 16GB variants respectively. But what if you bought the device a few days or even hours before Google revised the prices? Well, the word frustration comes to mind. But worry not, as Google has decided to offer a $100 cashback to users who bought the Nexus 4 on or after August 12. This is great news for recent buyers of the smartphone who were a little let down with the price reduction.

Users will have to manually ask for a refund by heading over to the Google Play Store support page. Here, the users will have to fill up some information regarding their purchase. This is standard procedure as Google needs to confirm all the details before signing you up for the refund. There’s no mention of how long it could take for the refund to reflect on your credit cards, but it is said that Google will do it in a few days.

So if you purchased the smartphone after August 12, make sure you head over to the source link below to claim your refund.

  1. Note that Google already has a 15-day return policy, so refunding the difference within 15 days of a price drop is more about keeping people from returning it. I bought a new Nexus 4 on August 7th, 5 days too early to qualify for a refund, so this policy feels rather stingy to me. I’d waited and waited for a Nexus 5, but then I gave up and bought the 4 (and although I love it, I wish I’d waited longer).
