Sony’s much rumored high end smartphone, the Honami (or Xperia i1) has been dominating the technology news and rumors section all over the internet over the past couple of weeks. It is now almost as good as confirmed that the phone, or phablet, whichever you prefer, is going to be a high end device to boast of an amazing 20 megapixels camera, possible interchangeable lenses and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. A couple of days ago, there was a rumor that Sony would be launching the Honami on September 4th, it turns out it is true as confirmed to the guys at Bloomberg.
The 5 inch Sony Honami will be launching on September 4th ahead of the 2013 IFA in Berlin, Germany. A reliable source privy to the developments of the smartphone confirmed to Bloomberg that the Xperia i1 will be launched in slightly over two weeks, putting rest to all the rumors that have been doing rounds for weeks as the device is widely expected to be a game changer. The Sony Honami will be taking on the market leaders in the smartphone market including Samsung’s Galaxy S4, HTC One, LG’s G2 and its older sibling, Sony Xperia Z.
There isn’t much we haven’t covered about the Xperia i1, maybe except for the new display technology, a HD Triluminous screen with Sony’s X-Reality chip currently equipped in Smart TVs.
