The ZTE Geek U988S has just surfaced and is all set to be the first smartphone to come with a NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip. The information comes directly from the manufacturer, so we can vouch for its authenticity. The images were revealed on a Chinese forum and other prominent blogs. The smartphone is all set for a launch on its home turf of China before the rest of the world gets it. ZTE has apparently decided to squash the Intel Atom based Geek smartphone in favor of the Tegra 4 variant. China Mobile will be the first to get the smartphone in the country.
The smartphone is said to feature a 1080p 5 inch display, 2GB of RAM, 1.8 GHz CPU clockspeed (quad core), 8MP camera and a 2MP front facing camera. It is rather strange that ZTE has gone with the Tegra 4 as no other manufacturers have gathered the courage to use the chipset before, as Qualcomm is pretty much dominating the chipset industry right now, but we’re expecting great results.
