Verizon may unveil the Motorola Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra, and Droid Mini on July 23. Big Red has already sent out invitations for a press event scheduled on such date, although it has not revealed specifically which devices it will be revealing. The wireless carrier, however, hinted that the press event is for their most popular product line. Earlier, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside also announced that a new product lineup will be available this summer.
Numerous leaks have given consumers a preview of what to expect when the Motorola-made handsets finally break cover. The clearest one, perhaps, are three photos published by famous leak source Evan Blass on his Twitter account @evleaks. Such images show that the devices will be arriving with Kevlar casings and designs that are similar to other Motorola Droid smartphones that had been previously released.
Aimed at various market segments, the Motorola Droid Maxx, Droid Ultra, and Droid Mini will have different strengths.
The Droid Maxx will purportedly have a long battery life, running for as much as two days on a single charge, according to a leaked commercial storyboard featuring the handset.
The Droid Ultra, for its part, will allegedly have similar specifications as the Droid Maxx, but will pack a less powerful battery. It is also rumored to feature a 5-inch 1080p diplsay, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and a 10 MP RBGC camera. Photos that were supposedly taken with the smartphone’s camera surfaced recently.
Earlier, the same device was spotted in a leak on Motorola’s website, where it was shown to sport a 4.3-inch display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 8 GB of storage, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, an 8 MP rear camera, and a 0.3 MP front camera. However, some pointed out that such specifications were for the Motorola Droid Razr M, and not the upcoming Droid Ultra.
Meanwhile, the Droid Mini is expected to be the smallest among the three handsets, and is said to be Motorola’s answer to the growing number of mini smartphones hitting the market. This smartphone is believed to feature a 4.3-inch display, and will possibly be an updated Motorola Droid Razr M.
Notwithstanding all these leaks, there is still a lot that we do not know about the three handsets. However, it seems that we won’t have to wait too long for the official announcement. If you are a Verizon customer and a Motorola fan, you may want to mark July 23 on your calendar.
