Reddit for Android gets updated to version 3.0

The popular Reddit client for Android, known as Reddit Is Fun, has just received an update to version 3.0 which brings some new features on board along with the obvious bug fixes, not that there were many. The app has been the only noteworthy Reddit client for Android and has seen well over a million downloads.

The 3.0 update brings the new theme changer option which will allow users to add new themes to the interface. Interested users can make their own themes and sell them via Purchasing new themes can be done right within the app, via in-app purchases.

It seems like the client has gone more commercial with this update, but as long as nothing is forced on the users, we don’t have a problem. The update also adds link flair and support for easy NFC sharing between compatible devices.

Some of the features are said to be non-functional at times, but we can expect that to be fixed with subsequent updates.

Here’s the full changelog:

  • Custom user themes from (BETA)(PRO)
  • New setting: Link flair
  • New setting: Filter posts based on titles and link flair
  • NFC sharing support
  • Major speed improvements throughout app for Android 4.0+
  • Improved login reliability
  • Improved battery in dual pane mode
  • Fixed HTML5 video
  • Moved subreddits into left drawer
