NVIDIA finally has some good news for its fans with a formal announcement confirming the launch date of the Shield handheld console as July 31. This is quite a delay considering the original shipping date was scheduled for June 26. However, it now seems like all the issues have been fixed. Here’s what NVIDIA’s official statement read –
“We want to thank you for your patience and for sticking with us through the shipment delay of your SHIELD. We have great news to share with you – your SHIELD will ship on July 31st. Our goal has always been to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted SHIELD to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry. We built SHIELD because we love playing games, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
The NVIDIA Shield console features a 5 inch HD panel, the NVIDIA Tegra 4 chipset inside, an array of gaming controls which will appeal to the gamer in you. Users with compatible PCs can control games via Steam on the Shield, which is a really neat feature. The console runs a fairly plain version of Android and can be controlled either by the touchscreen or the D-Pad. Priced at $299, the Shield is an attractive purchase considering the features it is bundled with.
If you haven’t placed the pre-order for the NVIDIA Shield yet, now might be the right time to do it.
