Motorola’s US website reveals an upcoming handset called the Motorola Droid Ultra. This is a device that has not been announced yet by the phone maker, but appears to be coming soon, given that it already has a placeholder page on on the Motorola website.
Full details on the smartphone’s technical specifications are clearly laid out in the website, offering an early glimpse at the handset.
The newest member of the Motorola Droid series seems to sport mid-range specifications. It comes with a 4.3-inch 4.3-in. Super AMOLED Advanced qHD screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This is protected by the scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Motorola Droid Ultra runs on a Dual-Core 1.5GHz processsor, and offers 8GB of memory that may be expanded for an extra 32 GB via a microSD card. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is its operating system.
The device is powered by a 2000 mAh Li Ion battery that promises up to 20 hours of mixed usage.
In terms of connectivity, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g, n dual band, Bluetooth, 4G Mobile Hotstpot, 3G Mobile Hotspot, micro USB, and high-speed USB 2.0. The specification also lists Near Field Communication, and sensors such as the proximity, ambient light, eCompass, battery temp, and accelerometer sensors.
The smartphone’s main camera packs an 8 MP image sensor, and features 4x digital zoom and LED flash. Meanwhile, its secondary camera has a 0.3 MP sensor and VGA video capture capability. Image editing tools are available to help users make the best of the cameras. These include including cropping, geo-tagging, brightness adjustment, flip, enhance, sharpen, red eye removal, and effects, among others.
Unfortunately, the website does not include a photo of the smartphone. However, the physical description included in the specifications may help one imagine. The Motorola Droid Ultra comes with a durable yet slim aluminum frame crafted with Dupont KEVLAR fiber. It tips the scale at 126 grams, and measures 60.9 x 122.5 x 8.3 mm. The smartphone will also be released in several glossy colors.
