New rumors of the upcoming Kindle Fire HD 2 tablet have surfaced revealing some insightful information. The new duo of Kindle Fire HD tablets will be successors to last year’s widely popular Kindle Fire HD tablets (7 and 8.9 inch variants) and it is believed that both variants will receive substantial upgrades this year. The 7 inch tablet will apparently receive the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core chip clocked at 2.0 GHz.
To go with the beefy processor, the tablet is also rumored to pack a 1920×1200 display (same as the 2013 Nexus 7), a front facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 8, 16, 32 and 64GB storage variants as well as Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The tablet will reportedly have a cellular/4G LTE variant along with the standard Wi-Fi variant. If any of this is true, we can see the Google Nexus 7 getting some heavy competition, much like last year.
The 8.9 inch variant is rumored to pack the same Snapdragon 800 SoC, with a 2560×1600 display, an 8MP rear camera, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2. The 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD will be sold in 16, 32 and 64GB variants, it is said. A price increase is almost certain if these rumored specs are true, but that won’t be a concern as it is a major upgrade over last year’s tablets. The two tablets are also claimed to be thinner and lighter compared to the 2012 Kindle Fire HD tablets.
