Google announces Play Store availability of the new Nexus 7

Nexus 7 Orders

The new Google Nexus 7 has finally gone up for sale on the Google Play Store as well, after Best Buy and Amazon began shipping units of the tablet ahead of schedule. Units will ship by the 30th of July, it is claimed. It seems like Google wanted to make the most of the weekend sale as it has skipped ahead of its own schedule. So in addition to Best Buy and Amazon, users can also get the device via the Play Store now. In hindsight, I think this was the plan all along and not an error by the retailers earlier.

Google sent out an email to all the aspiring buyers mentioning the tablet’s availability on the Play Store and several other third party retail outlets. Pricing is the same at $229 and $269 for the 16 and 32GB variants. While usually Google charges for shipping, the new Nexus 7 is shipping free of cost “for a limited time” as the listing suggests. If you use Amazon or Best Buy, you have the option to either choose free or paid shipping which delivers the product faster. Either way, you can be assured that your tablet will be delivered to you safely.
