This launch comes long after the device was officially announced around the middle of last year. Reportedly, the device got involved in some internal problems, as well as needed some refinements in terms of its specifications. These issues caused delay after delay, and caused some to doubt whether the device was even arriving at all.

Fortunately, the Wikipad team decided to push through with the launch. Originally planned to be a 10-incher, the Android gaming device now features a 7-inch IPS capacitive multi-touch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 16:10 aspect ratio, 5-point gesture support, and military-grade scratch protection.

Inside, it offers an NVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile processor with quad-core CPU and 5th battery-saver core, working with a high-performance 12-core NVIDIA GPU. It also has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, and 1 6GB of Flash memory. Expansion through a microSD card slot for an extra 32 GB is possible, as well.

The device sports a single camera, a 2 MP shooter found on its front. Its sensors include 3-axis Accelerometer, e-Compass, Gyroscope, and GPS (including GLONASS). Meanwhile, the Input/Output ports are a 3.5mm stereo headphone and mic minijack, Micro USB for data and power, and Micro-HDMI. Also onboard are two built-in stereo speakers and a microphone.

Furthermore, the Wikipad is powered by a 4100mAh watt-hour lithium-polymer battery, or a Universal AC adapter (5V, 2A).

Users can opt to detach the tablet from the controller and use it as a standalone slate. On its own, the tablet measures 7.70 x 4.95 x 0.42 in and weighs 0.71 lb, whereas with the controller attached, the measurements are 11.26 x 5.71 x 2.57, and the weight is 1.23 lb.

Users will have many game options to choose from. Among the supported sources of games and other content are Google Play, PlayStation Mobile games, TegraZone, and Google Mobile Services.
