Specifications of the Sony Xperia ZU have purportedly leaked. The handset has been circulating for some time in the rumor mill as the Sony Togari.
VR-Zone reports that an insider who has knowledge on the matter claims that the Sony Togari will be known as the Sony Xperia ZU. Furthermore, unknown13 says that the name is already final.
The smartphone will allegedly arrive with a 6.44-inch 1080pFull HD display, allowing the device to join the phablet niche. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note dominates this category, so the upcoming handset will let Sony compete head-to-head with the Note.
The same display will also feature Triluminous technology, which has been on Sony’s televisions for several years. Panels with triluminous technology supposedly offer more vibrant colors vis-a-vis traditional panels. In addition to this, the Xperia ZU’s display will have the X-Reality Engine image processor. Android Authority, however, notes that as of the moment, there are no Full HD panels with said size available, so this leak might not be a hundred percent credible.
Inside, the smartphone is said to offer a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with an ultra-fast clock speed of 2.3GHz. This processor is expected to be available sometime later this year, so it might take some time for the Xperia ZU to be released, that is, if it will indeed feature the Snapdragon 800.
As for its camera, the main shooter will be an 8 MP one, whereas the sensor on its secondary camera is still unknown.
Lastly, the device is expected to have waterproof and dustproof properties. This feature is not unlikely, as Sony has been promoting such kinds of protection in recent devices.
Meanwhile, an image of a smartphone that is supposedly the Xperia ZU has been making its rounds online. The image shows a kitten balancing on top of a rather large, but quite thin, device.
VR-Zone points out that consumers might get a first look at the Sony Xperia ZU on June 25th, which is the date of a Sony press event in Germany where the company will talk about mobile phones.
