It seems like Sony wants a pop at the ultimate camera phone experience, with Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Zoom and the upcoming Nokia EOS (Lumia 1020) starting this trend of really powerful cameras inside smartphones.
The initial thought was Sony would continue with the design of the Xperia Honami the same way they have with the Xperia Z and Xperia Ultra Z. However, this matte plastic finish offers a ‘wallet’ design, something we are not used to seeing on a smartphone. The big issue is the camera, apparently the Xperia Honami will have a 1/1.6″ sensor of 20MP resolution.
Other specs include a 5-inch 1080p screen and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, with 2GB of RAM. There will be expandable storage on top of 32GB internally. We believe battery life will be as large as the Xperia Ultra Z, with the dense camera.
Release date on the Xperia Honami is slated for July 4 in Paris, where Sony may unveil some other new devices.
