The three latest additions to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 family will be on sale in the US from July 7th, Samsung has announced today. The three tablets come in different screen sizes of 7, 8 and 10.1 inches but almost every other specification, save for a few variations, are the same.
7 inch Galaxy Tab 3
The 7 inch Galaxy Tab 3 has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, a 1.2 GHz dual-core Marvell PXA 986 processor, 1 GB of RAM and offers 8 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. It also has a 3 megapixels rear camera, a 1.3 megapixels front camera and a 400 mAh battery. Its price will start at $199.
8 inch Galaxy Tab 3
The 8 inch tablet on the other hand has a much better and bigger HD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 00 pixels. The processor is also slightly better than that of its smaller brother – a 1.5 GHz dual-core Exynos 4212 SoC. This version has 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage capacity, a 5 megapixels rear and 1.3 megapixels front cameras and a 4,450 mAh battery pack.. You can get this tablet for $299.
10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3
The biggest tablet in this series is the 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab 3 with a 1.6 GHz dual core Intel Z2560 processor and the same resolution as the 8 inch Tab 3 of 120 x 800 pixels. Disappointing, but for a price of $399, it seems fair. Even more disappointing is that this bigger tablet has only 1 GB RAM, even less than the RAM of its 8 incher brother, and the same 16 GB onboard storage. It also boasts of a 3 megapixels rear and 1.3 front cameras.
Shared features and specs
Besides the listed features, all the 3 tablets in the Galaxy Tab 3 family will come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out-of-the box and have all the standard features of modern Android tablets including Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and GPS with GLONASS. Interestingly, these tablets will also feature Sound Alive with Dolby Surround, something which will be great for those who intend to use them for entertainment.
Most major retailers in the US are expected to stock the three Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablets and sell them for $199, $299 and $399 for the 7, 8 and 10.1 inch models respectively and will be available in White and Brown. These retailers include Office Depot, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Toys ‘R’ Us and Samsung.com. If you are interested in these ‘subsidized’ tablets, you could have one from July 7th when they are launched in the US market.
