Redbox has launched a site called GamingFuture.net where gamers can vent their feelings about the next generation of consoles, this information could be very useful for Redbox to provided the best game rental service for next-gen consoles. Redbox and Microsoft are already quite close partners since the Redbox Instant app launched on the Xbox 360 earlier this year. The friendship seems to be stable at the moment and coupled with this information from gamers they should be able to take some customers from other similar services such as GameFly.
Microsoft have released details on the subject of game licensing and how that will work on the Xbox One when it launches, “Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch , but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners.” this is where the partnership with Redbox comes in handy. There are a limited amount of launch titles with the Xbox One so they maybe waiting until there is a wider range before they all these services to swoop in.
