For those of you who have been waiting impatiently the last few months to get their hands on the new Nexus 7 successor, it looks like you won’t have to wait much longer. The ASUS K009 has just passed through the FCC, and this could be the next Nexus 7 tablet, as the brand name “nexus” is included in the description, citing that it is for “marketing purposes only.”
Regarding rumored specs for the new tablet, the Nexus 7 successor is expected to have a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm S4 Pro Quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a front facing camera along with a new 5MP back facing camera, as well a 4000mah battery. What we don’t know right now, is what resolution the 7-inch display will be, although we’re hoping that it will be 1080p.
There aren’t any specific release dates mentioned, but recent rumors have pointed to a July launch date. If the ASUS K009 is truly the new Nexus 7, it would make sense for it to clearing the FCC right now. We’ll keep you locked in if we hear any other news regarding the new Nexus 7 tablet.
