We haven’t yet seen what Sony has to offer in the form of Android 4.2.2, and whilst their OS overlay is usually the most vanilla android-like out on the market today, it’s still nice to see what changes may come when a manufacturer updates to a new version of Android.
Thanks to GSMArena, who have managed to get hold of some leaked Xperia ZU UI screens, we may now have a chance to look at what the Xperia line looks like when running on Android 4.2.2
Apart from the slight change to aesthetics, there really isn’t much going on to separate it from the previous Android 4.1. There are a few changes to looks which can be seen in the app drawer in one of the leaked pictures, and a few other cosmetic overhauls here and there, but as of yet, there isn’t anything to see that makes it stand out functionality-wise.
Many are stating that these new screens are in fact just a custom launcher that imitates Sony’s current 4.1 experience, although it’s hard to tell at this point whether either of the screenshots are real leaked screens from Android 4.2.2 or just screens of a custom launcher.
Whether these screens are real or not, one question still comes to mind; do you think Sony need to make a better Xperia OS to stand a better chance at competing against Samsung and HTC, or do you feel the near-stock Android experience on the Xperia range is all we’ll ever need?
