After Sony released its latest water and dust-proof flagship device Xperia Z, it seems that other companies are trying to follow the suit and trying to make their smartphones water-proof.
Recently Sony unveiled its another water-proof IP58 certified smartphone Xperia ZR which is able to take pictures with its 13 megapixel camera even under water and now LG is all set to step forward and announce the Water-proof version of its flagship device Optimus G smartphone called Optimus GJ in Taiwan.
LG has supposedly sent invitations for the announcement of this IP57- version of Optimus G called Optimus GJ. According to E-price website, LG has send invitations for an event which will be held on May 22nd. LG Optimus GJ will come with IP57 certificate, which means that the phone will be water resistant up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
Previously the Korean company has also released waterproof LG Optimus G for the Japenese market on NTT DoCoMo so releasing a new water-proof smartphone makes sense.
It is believed that the specifications for this new water-proof smartphone will remain the same as of the International Optimus G featuring a 4.7-inch True HD IPS LCD, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU along with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM, 13MP back camera and 1.3 megapixel secondary camera, built-in 2100mAH battery, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wifi.
LG Optimus GJ will be available in red as suggested by the picture and will be announced on May 22 in Taiwan. The availability for the International market is still unknown but considering the popularity of water-proof phones in the market, it will surely boost the market share for the Korean company.
