Sony Xperia L4 Togari to take on Samsung Galaxy Note III?

The Sony Xperia L4 Togari is an unreleased device that is believed to be Sony’s answer to the growing number of phablets in the market. Particularly, it is seen to provide competition against the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

The GizBot blog claims to have gotten information from Sony during the launch of the Xperia Tablet Z in India that the company is indeed preparing the device. According the the unnamed source, the phablet could be announced either during IFA 2013 or next year’s CES.

Earlier rumors suggested that the Sony Xperia L4 Togari would be initially released in China in July. In August or September, it is said to be heading to the international market. This appears to be consistent with GizBot’s information, since the IFA is usually held around such months.

Meanwhile, has also gotten word that the phablet will have a design similar to the Xperia Z. Inside, it may sport a Snapdragon 600 or Snapdragon 800 CPU working with 2 GB of RAM. On its rear, the device could have a camera with a 13 MP Exmor RS sensor.

Prior to such information, the same phablet was rumored to have 3 (not 2) GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, and MSM8974 krait 800 2.3 GHz processor. Along with the 13 MP Exmor RS camera, it was speculated to sport a 2 mp Full HD Exmor R front camera. Adding to the list is a 3500mAh battery, Adreno 330, NFC, 4G LTE, and IR blaster. For its display, the device is said to use a 6.44-inch  IPS screen (JDI) + OptiContrast and MBE-2 with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The phablet is also expected to come with a stylus.

By comparison, the Galaxy Note 3 is speculated to have a 6.3-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, an octa-core CPU, Mali 450 GPU, a main camera with a  13-megapixel sensor, Android 4.3 or 5.0 Key Lime Pie and TouchWiz.
