Over at Indiegogo a new crowd funding campaign has been launched that’s quite interesting. It’s called the Micro-Phone and though you may think that it’s a microphone it isn’t. It’s actually a GSM phone that’s the size of a credit card. This makes it convenient to bring with you and can even fit inside your wallet, which is impossible to do with most phones.
The description of the device reads as follows
“As designers, we strive to create beautiful, functional objects to complement your busy lifestyle. Micro-Phone is just that. It’s simple, clever and easy-to-use design transforms the idea that a mobile phone has to be a smartphone to be smart.”
“A compelling combination of beauty and brains, the Micro-Phone is not only the smartest looking micro phone available it’s also a sleek, discrete and affordable take anywhere, use anytime mobile phone.”
There’s going to be two models available. One is the basic model which can do calls and texts. The other model adds a locator so you can easily track down the user of the device. The locator technology uses mobile tower triangulation. This is useful when you want to locate your child, partner or friend carrying the device.
There’s currently 31 days left in the campaign with $14,309 raised out of the $50,000 goal. You can contribute right now for as low as $39. This amount will help in the production of the device and once it is available you will be getting a limited edition Micro-Phone basic unit. This includes a silicone cover and a mini USB cable. The estimate price of the basic device when released in the market is $89 while the one with the locator will cost $ 129.
