We are now expecting another version of Jelly Bean to come at Google I/O, instead of the much anticipated Key Lime Pie. Google may be holding the newest mobile operating system until the X Phone is ready.
Android 4.3 has been seen in some new files being imported from Google to developer pages and HTC has now shown off two definite features coming the update with a meetup posting.
Android 4.3 Features
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is made for always on devices that have temperature, pressure, humidity, accelerometer features inside, as most devices now have these, we can see why Android 4.3 would have this.
We may see some new applications by Google on Android regarding this new Bluetooth Low Energy as we did with Samsung, perhaps Google Health and Google Fitness.
OpenGL ES 3.0 is the second feature HTC announced would be coming to Android 4.3, this is a mobile graphics specification currently used on new Qualcomm chips.
This will be excellent for gaming and we recently noticed Google was looking for a mobile video game applications developer, this could mean the company will start making first party games, although we doubt this is the case.
Google will still have a lot to show at the three day event, starting on May 15 and finishing May 17. The last Google I/O revealed the Nexus tablets, Jelly Bean and the first in real preview of Google Glass.
This time, we can expect some of the same and some new products and services coming from Google. Android 4.3 looks more likely than Key Lime Pie and we may see a new Nexus UI skin developed.
We could also see the new Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, given the success of the former and the failure of the latter, we may see the Nexus 10 dropped as the Nexus Q streaming device was six months ago.
Other than that, we expect to see Google Glass and possibly the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 4 with 32GB of storage and LTE capabilities.
