Apple is set to begin production of a lighter iPad, with full production starting in July for a release either in quarter three or four this year. The company has yet to release any new products this year, so we expect the end of this year to be packed.
DigiTimes reports the new iPad 5 will be 25-33% thinner than the last iteration and will take design cues from the iPad Mini. Apple will not bump up the 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, but will change the glass plate for a thinner design.
The big focus seems to be on the size of the iPad, the iPad Mini 2 will apparently come alongside the larger version, this time it will have faster processing speeds and a slimmer design.
We expect Apple will reveal all at a conference, we may even see the iPhone 5S or 6 if Apple do not reveal it at WWDC. The larger iPad will stay the same price and may come with keyboard functionality, to kick back the Windows 8 hybrids.
