Nokia is known for its exclusive apps and many users in fact buy a Nokia device for these apps. They make the device unique from other phones in the market, a trait that most Lumia users cherish. One such Lumia exclusive app released by the company is the Nokia Chat. Although the app is still in its beta stage, we are sure that you will hardly find any problems with the app. Moreover, you get a host of new features that were only found in some social messaging platforms.

The good news here is that the chat app is available for a number of platforms like Windows 8, Windows 7.5, symbian, s40 etc. The app is pretty simple to use and will give you access to millions of users on Yahoo Messenger and Nokia chat. As a result, you can catch up with your friends via any computer or phone running Nokia Chat or Yahoo messenger.

The app brings in a lot of interesting social features on to the device. The exact details of the features of the Nokia Chat as seen on the Nokia beta labs page are as given below:

Person to Person Messaging: You can reach millions of Nokia Chat and Yahoo! Messenger users across different mobile and computer platforms.

Push Notifications and Live Tile Updates: Receive new message notifications, preview new messages, and see how many notifications you’ve received – even when Nokia Chat isn’t running.

Share a Place: Send information about a restaurant, store, or other point of interest.  If the recipient is also using a Lumia, they’ll see details, directions, and reviews inside the HERE Maps app.

Broadcast Your Location: Optionally include your city or neighborhood in your status message, so your friends and family know when you’re near or faraway.

Find Contacts: Scan your phone’s address book to find friends and family who already use Nokia Chat and Yahoo! Messenger.
