Nextel Mexico and Motorola Introduce ATRIX HD Smartphone and the New PRIP Radio Service

Motorola has announced the new Motorola ATRIX HD smart phone which it has developed along with Nextel Mexico. The smart phone was announced late last night, and the smart phone is going to be the first smart phone to ship with the new PRIP smart radio technology from Nextel. The technology from Nextel will let users in any part of the world call their friends and family in another part of the world using the high performance communication using a software based solution integrated with Nextel’s wireless network.

Also, the Motorola ATRIX HD is the first device from both the companies which comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean installed out of the box. More features of the smart phone include:

  • A front-facing camera for Google+ Hangouts and video chats
  • A rear-facing 8 megapixel camera to capture photosthat can automatically be uploaded to a private album on Google+™ Captures video in 1080p HD at 30 frames per second for smooth playback
  • Features Mirror Mode when connected with an HDMI cable (sold separately) to view images, files and movies on a larger screen
  • WiFi Direct for easy transfer of files directly between two devices (without needing a wireless access point)
  • Access to over 700,000 apps and games on Google Play™
  • Ability to seamlessly communicate with other subscribers using Nextel de Mexico and Sprint iDEN PTT

MEXICO CITY – Apr. 10, 2013 – Nextel Mexico and Motorola Mobility today announced the release of Motorola ATRIX HD™, the most advanced smartradio handset in the companies’ joint portfolio, as well as the launch of the new radio service, PRIP, developed by Motorola. Motorola ATRIX HD is the first device from both companies powered by AndroidTM 4.1, Jelly Bean.
