A few days back we had reported that LG managed to sell over 500,000 Optimus G Pro units in their home country. The company managed to achieve this feat within 40 days of its release. This clearly indicates that Optimus G Pro is one of the best looking devices ever released by LG, both software and hardware wise.
And this good looking device is finally available outside of South Korea. Today, the south Korean company announced that their handsets would be available for sale in Japan. The device would a little different than what we had seen in the home country. According to the press release, the Japanese version would be of only 5 inches as compared to the 5.5 inch screen found on the initial version and will run on the Snapdragon 600 processor. However don’t worry, only the screen size has changed, the screen resolution along with all the other features will be the same as the original version. The press release further states that the smaller form factor is specifically designed for users in Japan. So if you happen to live in Japan and want to buy this device, you can do so via NTT Docomo.
Seeing that the device is available out of the home country we can expect it to be available in US sometime later this year. But we are wondering whether we would get the larger 5.5 inch version or the 5 inch version. Most likely the company will play it safe and release the 5.5 inch version as the international version as you can see many devices like Galaxy Note II managed to capture a large portion of the market due to its tremendous screen size.
Samsung had earlier announced that the device would be available in North America in Q2 of this year; however the company failed to mention any particular date. But with the device available in Japan we expect things are on schedule and a US release is not that far off.
