Firefox OS Powered Keon Makes Its Way To The FCC

We’ve already heard that another mobile operating system will soon be made available courtesy of Mozilla. This summer Firefox OS powered devices will be made available in 5 countries spread over Europe and South America.

If you’ve wanted to be one of the first people to check out the new OS then Spanish e-retailer Geeksphone has you covered as they will be releasing two Firefox OS powered devices which they say “will be available for dispatch anywhere on earth.”

One of the models known as the Keon has just made its way over at the FCC.  A quick look at its specs is listed below.

  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900 (2G EDGE)
  • Screen 3.5″ HVGA Multitouch

The Keon comes with a model number C8666GP and if you wish to order it you will be able to use it with AT&T’s network. When released it’s going to cost US$120.

A higher end Firefox OS powered device will also be released by Geeksphone at the same time as the Keon. This is the Peak model which will hit the market next week. There’s no information as of this moment if it has been presented to the FCC yet. This model is much powerful than the Keon judging from its quick specifications which we have listed below.

Firefox OS is a Linux based operating system which can be used by phones and tablets. One of its key features is that it allows for HTML5 applications to communicate directly with the device hardware.
