Archos Unveils 3 New Android Smartphones and a Phablet

Archos is not the most popular name when it comes to smartphone and tablets, but it seems the company is working on changing that.  The company today announced a line of Android smartphones and a phablet targeting different types of users.  The four devices are all dual-SIM, likely designed for the European market, three come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system while only one comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. Here are the devices that the will be coming between April and May.

Archos Titanium 52

The Titanium 52 is a slightly improved version of Titanium 4 – the only improvement is the larger screen.  Despite this, the phone pretty much falls in the same mid-range category as Titanium 4.  Here are its Core Specs

Operating System: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Processor: Dual-core 1.2 GHz MTK 6577 processor

Archos Platinum 48

This is another mid-range smartphone with a lot more impressive specs compared with the other 3.  Some of its core specs are:

Memory:1 GB ROM, 8 GB onboard memory

Cameras: 8 megapixels front, 0.3 megapixels rear

Battery: 2,000 mAh (removable)

All these devices support dual SIM cards, meant that they are meant for the European market and not the US.  The first three (Carbon 35 and Titanium 4 and 52) will be available this month, but the Archos Platinum 48 will be on the shelves in May.  The prices are not yet indicated but the prices will start at about €80 for the Carbon 35 to about €240 for Platinum 48.  Although even their best smartphone on this list will definitely not appear on the list of the high end smartphone, it may be ARCHOS’ strategy to conquer the market from the bottom up.
