There have been some rumors about the next generation iPhone for some time now. We have heard rumors which said that the Cupertino tech giant would increase the size of the next gen iPhone to make it at least 4.5 inches or 4.8 inches big. We have also heard rumors which said that there would be more than one type of iPhone this year. And to add to this, or to put some weight to that particular rumor, Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White has published a research report in which he says that there would indeed be more than one iPhone this year. There would actually be two to three iPhones of different screen sizes and hardware specs this year according to this report.
Brain White is apparently on a visit to China, and there he has had a discussion with one of the tech supply chain companies, which remains anonymous, obviously. And he has got this info from there. He writes the following in his research report to his clients:
We also walked away with the view that Apple will release the iPhone 5S in at least two screen sizes this summer and possibly three. We continue to target July as the launch date. Essentially, we believe Apple is coming around to the fact that one size per iPhone release does not work for everyone and offering consumers an option has the potential to expand the Company’s market share.
He also writes that Apple may release the low cost version of the iPhone this year, which has been in talks for some time now. And the cost of this low end iPhone would be in the $300 to $350 range. Also, he writes that the iPhone 5S may not come with a bigger screen, it may come with only the 4 inch display it has right now, but with very improved hardware beneath the 4 inch display.
