Ubisoft has finally listened to fans’ requests as it formally announced the new Assassin’s Creed—Black Flag, which is rumored to be released on October 31. The latest installment of the franchise will be available for owners of the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Wii U and Windows PC.

According to reports from Sunshine Coast Daily and Ubergizmo, the new Assassin’s Creed looks “absolutely amazing.” The new Assassin’s Creed has been in development for more than two years, so expectations are certainly high.

The game, developed by one of the veteran members of Assassin’s Creed team in Ubisoft Montreal, has a new superhero and it also features a new setting. Ubisoft studios in Annecy, Bucharest, Kiev, Quebec, Singapore and Sofia provided support for the development of the new game.

Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft, said in the report on Sunshine Coast Daily that the development of a new superhero and a new setting will still give respect to the origins of the franchise.

He added that the company is hoping that the new superhero will thrill longtime fans and even newcomers.

The game will still be based on the naval elements on Assassin’s Creed 3, which was released in 2011, the French firm said. However, on-land missions will still make up the majority of the game.

The Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will tell the story of Edward Kenway, the protagonist in the game. He is a young British guy who formally worked for the Royal Navy. However, because of his thirst for adventure and danger, he became a pirate in the West Indies. Eventually, Kenway will get caught in between the ancient war of the Assassins and the Templars.

This new game was set up during the supposed Golden Age of Pirates on 1715 Caribbean waters, which means that there is a lot of similarity with the settings of many pirate movies out there. In fact, the game will even feature the notorious and popular villain of the seas, Black Beard.

Around 60 percent of the game will happen on land as there will be 50 locations that the players can explore. Weapons will include the familiar hidden blades, swords and spear darts. There are also new additions such as the blowpipe and pistols.

The player will be rewarded based on his/her daring and stealth.

Black Flag With Co-op Mode?

Ubisoft has yet to formally announce it, but it looks like Black Flag will include a co-op mode that will allow players to play with or against other players online, The Gaming Liberty said. According to the report on the website, Ubisoft has conducted a survey that asked players if they want their friends to join them in solving mysteries and puzzles.

With that new information, it looks like this new Assassin’s Creed will be more than just the usual addition to the franchise. Gamers have historically wanted to play against another player or play with their friends as allies, so if true, the co-op mode might just make a big difference in the Assassin’s Creed 4.
