Twitter’s official Windows 8 app

Twitter for Windows 8

Some time back, Twitter made some changes to its APIs, which reduced the number of third party app developers. This means that the number of third party Twitter clients started decreasing. This was an effort by the company to dominate the Twitter space. With the same thing in mind, the company bought TweetDeck, one of the best cross platform Twitter clients of the time. After this, official Twitter apps started popping out from everywhere for every platform. Today, the company has released one for the new Windows 8 operating system as well, both touch and non-touch based systems.

The new official Twitter client for Windows 8 is now available in the Windows Store, and that too in 22 different languages. The app brings the usual Home, Connect, Discover, and Me tabs to the table. User will get the same experience with the app that they get on any other platform with the official Twitter app.

The good thing about this release is that the app will be able to mingle with other features in the new Windows 8 operating system such as share charm and search charm. You just need to make clean swipe from the right edge when you are in another app. You will get both the search charm and the share charm with this, with many other options.

You will be able to share a story or a post directly on Twitter from other apps using this feature. Also, you will be able to search inside Twitter when you are in the Twitter app. Also, the app is available for both x86 based Windows 8 computers and tablets, and ARM based Windows 8 tablets.

This new app will be able to replace the one in the People Hub app on the Windows 8 operating system. But it is to see how well Windows 8 users take it and how many downloads the app will get. Watch the video after the break which demos the app.
