We’ve all heard rumors that Samsung is planning to release a smaller version of the S4 called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini much like the S3 Mini. This time there’s more credibility that the device is really expected to make its way to the market as Samsung SVP Lee Keon Hyok discussed during an interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
The only information provided was that “The Galaxy S 4 doesn’t come out until late April. It’s fast, has a big, bright screen, and will probably be another huge hit for Samsung, as will the S 4 mini that will go on sale soon after.”
While this is just the information given it gives credibility that there is indeed a Galaxy S4 Mini headed to the market. As far as availability and pricing goes we can only speculate on this and base it on rumors.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini might hit the market on May or June which is just right after the release of its bigger brother.
Here are the expected specifications of the device
- 4.3-inches Super AMOLED screen 540×960 pixels, 256PPI
- 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch-focus and face detection
- dual-core 1.6 GHz Exynos 5210 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8, 16 and 32 GB versions
- same plastic construction as the Galaxy S3
- pricing the same as the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
The device is quite an upgrade compared to the S3 Mini but still falls short when compared to the S3. If you’re looking for a device that’s smaller than the S4 yet has great features then you might want to check out this mini version.
Even if the report comes from a Samsung SVP we still have to take everything with a grain of salt until Samsung makes everything official.
