In 2011 HTC released two mid-range Android devices that came with a dedicated Facebook button. These were the HTC ChaCha (QWERTY device) and the HTC Salsa (full touch device). This year, the company is yet again about to release its third Facebook phone which is codenamed HTC Myst. Today we have just learned about its confirmed specifications which have been leaked online.
HTC Myst Technical Specifications
- Processor: 1.5 GHz dual core MSM8960
- Display: 4.3 inch, 720p at 320 ppi
- RAM: 1 GB
- Storage: 16 GB, no microSD
- Rear Camera: 5 MP
- Front Facing Camera: 1.6 MP
- Bearers: LTE, HSPA
- OS: Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2
The HTC Myst will come deeply integrated with Facebook and will be pre-installed with Facebook, Facebook messenger, and Instagram. Aside from being Facebook centric the device will also be able to access the various Android apps from the Play Store.
The specs leaked make it at par with most mid-range devices out in the market today. The absence of a way to increase the internal storage might be a problem for people who love to store a lot of things on their device. While 16 GB can be considered as an adequate storage space it will not be enough if you have lots of music, videos and games installed.
While having a Facebook phone in the market is a good idea the only difference between this model and other devices is that it will come with a dedicated Facebook button. You can easily install Facebook related applications on your Android device to come up with the same experience.
Once released, this device will most probably become popular among teenagers who use Facebook and Instagram often. The company’s previous Facebook phones were moderately successful and their previous experiences might make this upcoming device quite popular.
There is still no information on how much this device will cost but it is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
